The philosophy of the Florida Academy of Pet Grooming is to encourage our students to acquire the best knowledge, develop their creativity, and continue to strive for excellence. Our goal is to convey our knowledge of pet grooming, which we have attained through many years of experience, hard work, and study to each and every student.

We also believe being that being creative is equally important  in this profession, and should be practiced and utilized. This program enables the student to professionally groom a variety of dogs and some cats. Because of the additional program hours the student has an opportunity to refine scissoring, increase speed, and learn more advanced grooming skills.

The additional 300 hours will be spent on individualized hands on training. In addition, the student will learn how to handle clients, deal with competition, take appointments, as well as salon and marketing management. The student will also become involved in all areas of retain management.

The object of this program is to enable the student to work as a professional groomer, salon manager, or owner.

 

The Basic Professional All Breed Grooming Program is designed to prepare the student to master the basic grooming skills on a variety of dogs and some cats.

The school's environment is designed to closely resemble an actual grooming salon. The majority of hours are spent on individualized hands on training from the first week forward.

The object of this program is to prepare the student to be qualified to enter into the grooming industry as a professional pet groomer.

The Advanced Dog Obedience Program enables the student to professionally train dogs at an advanced level.  This program also enables the student to address dog behavioral problems, recognize canine body language, and to understand how dogs communicate. 

This program prepares the student to work as a dog behaviorist and trainer. This Program is offered through correspondence.  The student will train their own dog through all levels of Basic and Advanced obedience, as well as complete all written tests and exercises.  The student is welcome to spend up to twenty hours on campus for hands on training. 

The student must submit a video demonstrating them executing all the included exercises with their dog.  The student can also choose to demonstrate the completed exercises on campus.

 

The Basic Dog Obedience Program is an 80 hour program that involves learning dog psychology and behavior traits. The student learns how to modify undesirable behavior on a basic dog obedience level.   Student must train a dog through completion.

The program is designed to prepare the student to master dog obedience on a basic training level and address common dog behavior problems.  The program is to prepare the student to become a dog obedience trainer.

The object of this program is to enable the student to perform all the necessary skills and techniques of the bather/brusher phase of dog grooming to produce a professionally groomed pet.

Emphasis is placed on individualized hands on training in a salon setting. Upon completion of this program, the student will receive a diploma and be qualified to be employed as Bather/Brusher for any professional grooming establishment.
